The mission of the Betsy-Tacy Society is “To promote and preserve Maud Hart Lovelace’s legacy and her work and encourage and support literacy.” 
Volunteers contribute to our mission in many ways. Your talents are needed to help us continue to meet our goal of preserving the legacy of Maud Hart Lovelace. 

Currently, our greatest needs are:

-Tour Guide/Docent: Since we have limited open hours, we offer tours of the houses by appointment. Guests are requested to make special appointments 2 weeks in advance and we use a guide “on call list” to schedule tours. Guides are trained by shadowing experienced docents and receive a manual for reference. Guides are also required to have some gift shop training. 

-Gift Shop Staff: Tacy’s House and Gift Shop is open each Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. With more volunteers on our staff we hope to increase our open hours through the summer months. 
-Catalog Packaging: The BTS has an online gift shop and regularly fills orders for mailing. Volunteer staff is needed to fill the orders once a week and prepare for shipping. 
-Special Programs: Often we need extra help for special programs at Tacy’s House or promotional events held offsite. If you like to bake, perform as a re-enactor, sell tickets, set-up displays, deliver posters, or just be that friendly face to direct guests when they arrive, we always have opportunities available.
-Office Projects: Various tasks include typing, data entry, help with special mailings, phone calling, etc.
-House and/or Yard Maintenance: Help with general house maintenance, cleaning, yard work, etc.
